2016 Excellence in Education Banquet Set

The Foundation has scheduled its annual Excellence in Education Banquet for Thursday, April 28, 2016. This Banquet is held yearly and includes the announcement and reception for the year’s Distinguished Alumnus and Distinguished Educator, and also highlights issues in which the Foundation hopes to bring attending to and which require support from donors.

This year’s banquet, “Read To Lead,” will begin at 6:00 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a reception for the honorees, Judy Haas Smith, Class of 1958, Distinguished Alumna, and Robert Allen, long-time principal at South Elementary, Distinguished Educator.

At 7:15 p.m., the keynote speaker, Dr. Kent Farnsworth will speak on “The Importance of Reading,” in an effort to highlight the District’s implementation of the Partnership in Comprehensive Literacy Model of reading instructions at our elementary schools.

There is no cost to attend this event, due to Opal Foods’ continued generosity in underwriting the cost, as they have done for many years. Entire tables may be sponsored for a $320.00 donation to the Foundation. For tickets, or more information in sponsoring a table, contact Tonya Patterson at (417) 451-8600, Ext. 1102, or email to christine.day@neoshor5foundation.com.
